Günstige Notebooks für unter 600 Euro gibt es oft mit etwas kleineren Displays, die aber die Einsparungen bei Akku und Leichtbau ausgleichen können. Wer etwas sucht, findet auch Modelle mit sehr hochauflösenden, hellen und entspiegelten Displays. Die verbauten Prozessoren sind gut genug für den Alltag, für Spiele und anspruchsvolle Aufgaben wie Videos schneiden aber zu langsam. Käufer sollten auf ausreichende große SSD-Festplatten achten und sich vorab in Tests informieren, wie laut die Geräte unter voller Belastung werden können.

Das Surface Book 2 von Microsoft ist eigentlich ein tolles Detachable: Neben der höheren Leistung und lautlosen Kühlung gefällt uns die gestiegene Akkulaufzeit. Einige Kleinigkeiten hätten allerdings besser umgesetzt werden können.

Im Februar 2016 veröffentlichte Microsoft ein einzigartiges Detachable, also ein Notebook mit abnehmbarem Display. Im Test des Surface Book schrieben wir, es sei tatsächlich schon fast der ultimative Laptop, als der es von Redmond beworben wurde. Nun ist das Surface Book 2 verfügbar, wenngleich in Deutschland nur die 13,5 Zoll große Variante. Wir haben das Topmodell getestet und sind abgesehen von einigen Details der Ansicht, dass das Surface Book 2 noch besser ist als sein Vorgänger.

Wie so viele Nachfolgegeräte unterscheidet sich das neue Convertible in vielen Punkten nicht vom Erstling: Das ikonische Scharnier, das sogenannte Fulcrum-Gelenk, gibt es weiterhin, und die Maße fallen mit 312 x 232 x 23 mm bei 1.647 Gramm nahezu identisch aus. Die Tablet-Einheit entspricht äußerlich der des ersten Surface Book, da Microsoft keinerlei Ports geändert oder hinzugefügt hat. Wir finden das schade, eine USB-C-Buchse wäre eine willkommene Schnittstelle gewesen. Der Öffnungswinkel des Bildschirms beträgt nur 130 Grad, und das Kabel eines Headsets baumelt von oben rechts herab, wo sich die 3,5-mm-Kopfhörer-Buchse befindet. Das Tablet selbst hat keinen Ständer.

Die Basiseinheit, sprich das Tastaturdock, weist wie gehabt zwei USB-3.0-A-Ports, einen flotten SD-Kartenleser mit halber Tiefe und den Surface-Connector auf. Den Mini-Displayport hat Microsoft durch eine USB-C-Buchse ersetzt. Die überträgt Daten allerdings nur mit 5 GBit/s anstelle von 10 GBit/s (USB 3.0 statt USB 3.1 Gen2). Immerhin können wir das Surface Book 2 darüber optional laden statt nur per Stromanschluss am Tablet, und auch ein Display kann darüber angeschlossen werden. Mangels Zugriff auf das Intel- und das Nvidia-Treiber-Panel konnten wir bei unserem 4K-Bildschirm keine 3.840 x 2.160 Pixel ansteuern. Sinnvoll wäre Thunderbolt 3 gewesen, aber offenbar gibt es technische Hürden.

Vom Touch-Display des Surface Book 2 sind wir erneut sehr angetan: Das mit 3.000 x 2.000 Bildpunkten auflösende IPS-Panel leuchtet mit 404 cd/m² sehr hell und erreicht mit 1.823:1 einen satten Kontrast. Die Darstellung wurde exzellent kalibriert. Das 3:2-Seitenverhältnis ist zum Arbeiten überaus angenehm, bei viel Licht stören jedoch die Spiegelungen auf der Glare-Beschichtung. Auf der Rückseite des Displays schießt die bekannte 5-Megapixel-Kamera mit Autofokus passable Fotos, das 5-Megapixel-Modell vorne eignet sich für Voice-Chats und wird von einem Infrarotsensor für Windows Hello unterstützt.

Die Chiclet-Tastatur gehört zu den besseren am Markt, da die Tasten einen angenehmen Hubweg aufweisen und straff auslösen. Die mehrstufige weiße Hintergrundbeleuchtung ist angesichts der silbernen Kappen leider nur in ziemlich dunklen Umgebungen hilfreich. Die Fn-Taste befindet sich weiterhin rechts neben der Strg-Taste, so wie es sein soll. Generell gibt es am Layout keine Änderungen. Unter der Tastatur, bei der Hardware, hat sich dagegen sehr viel getan: Leistung und Laufzeit wurden deutlich verbessert.

Entsprechend wechselt das brandneue Asus TUF Gaming FX504 bereits ab 799 Euro den Besitzer. COMPUTER BILD hatte die Ausstattungsvariante für 1.279 Euro im Test, die mit einem spannenden Extra aufwartet.

Zum Lieferumfang gehören eine einfach gehaltene Maus sowie ein Rucksack, um das Asus TUF Gaming FX504 sicher zur nächsten LAN-Party zu transportieren.Das Gaming-Notebook kommt in einem schicken Karton mit Artworks der Titel „Gears of War 4“ und „Age of Empires – Definitive Edition“. Neben einer einfachen Maus und dem 559 Gramm schweren Netzteil legt Asus einen Rucksack in die Verpackung. Das Gaming-Notebook kommt in schwarz-rotem Look daher; auch wenn es nach gebürstetem Aluminium aussieht, besteht das Gehäuse doch aus Kunststoff. Die Gerätemaße betragen 2,8x38,4x26,3 Zentimeter, die Waage zeigt 2,3 Kilogramm an.

Die Full-HD-Auflösung (1920x1080 Pixel) ist Standard bei der Größe, das spannende Extra ist die Bildwiederholungsfrequenz des Bildschirms: Dank 120-Hertz-Technik aktualisiert sich die Anzeige bis zu 120-mal pro Sekunde. Der Vorteil gegenüber der gängigen 60-Hertz-Technik zeigt sich vor allem in schnellen Spielen wie Shootern und Rennsimulationen: In hektischen Momenten kommt es seltener zu zerrissenen (Teil-)Bildern, die technisch begründet entstehen können, weil sich das Bild stets von oben nach unten neu aufbaut. Erfolgt der Aufbau schneller (120 vs. 60 Hertz), verringert sich folglich die „Chance“ auf diesen unschönen Effekt.
